Theme: Dodging Silver Carp in Indiana
Author: KayakGuyThere’s a fascinating video on YouTube that shows Indiana Outdoor Adventure TV hosts Troy McCormick and Mac Spainhour fending off Silver Carp that seem to attack the boaters by literally jumping out of the water and flying into their boat.
On one hand, it looks like fun, then I started thinking about what it would be like trying to paddle a kayak while battling with those fish. Probably not so much fun!
Actually “fun” isn’t a word that should be associated at all with these evil fish. Silver Carp average about 20 pounds and are considered an invasive species in the US. They hurt our native fish species by destroying the food chain. If you catch one or one jumps in your boat, you should destroy it. The Indiana DNR states that “If a silver carp is caught in Indiana, it must be killed immediately and not returned to the water.”
