Theme: Outdoor Tip – Fire Starters Made With Leftover Candle Wax
Author: The TipsterMy brother-in-law and I were recently discussing the finer points of re-cycling and how almost anything can be adapted to secondary uses after it’s initial purpose. Brad is a former Boy Scout Leader and when he told me about this tip for recycling leftover candle wax, I though it might be a good one to pass along to any of you kayakers who might also be campers.
Save the bits and pieces of wax from your old candles. After you have accumulated a decent amount, you can melt them into paper egg cartons, carefully mixing in some bits of twigs or sawdust. The resulting “wax eggs” will then make excellent fire starters for your next camping trip or any other outdoor fire you need to get going quickly. They’re easy to store, too!
